Hom(m)e

HOM(M)E is an immersive installation combining hyper-realistic silicone sculpture, touch-activated technology, and sound. Each fragmented life-cast sculpture contains sensors that awaken memories, stories, and sounds from the participants’ homeland, turning the work into a living archive of diaspora experiences. The audios are fragments of conversations between Manuela and each participant. The project seeks to foster empathy, connection, and dialogue around migration.

To give the audience a glimpse into the lives of these people, one must draw close — even make gentle physical contact. Their bodies appear fragmented because you cannot grasp the fullness of their existence, just as their stories are mere fragments: brief windows into lives that extend far beyond what is shown.

In this sense, this project is both an archive and a tribute, amplifying the voices of immigrants and making tangible the intimate, often overlooked experiences of displacement.
